What is StreamZilla.eu?

The European Vimeo
StreamZilla is a new video platform, comparable to YouTube and Vimeo, but European. It is not aimed at consumers, but at professionals and organisations that would rather host their videos in Europe than with American companies.
StreamZilla is a long-standing Jet-Stream service that we are bringing back to life. It first launched more than 20 years ago, a year before Vimeo, and became one of the most popular video hosting platforms in Europe.
Easy all-in-one video management system
These days anyone can build a video platform with AI, but StreamZilla is unique. That is not just down to its ease of use, although uploading, managing and publishing videos really is extremely simple.
Quality
Nor is it only about the video quality behind it. We are Jet-Stream, and video streaming has been our craft for more than thirty years. So you can expect very high-quality video from StreamZilla, up to 4K, backed by highly reliable video technology: everyone can watch, even on an older device or a slower connection, without buffering, with capacity for millions of viewers worldwide.
Compliance
What makes StreamZilla truly unique is compliance. It is, for example, digitally sovereign in the European sense: European-owned, hosted in Europe, and not dependent on any other party for processing any of the data.
This means nobody can secretly watch what your viewers are watching. Nobody can train their AI models on your data or your audience. And nobody can block you or take your videos offline. For us, compliance is not a formality: it is about freedom.
Independence and freedom
Compliance is about independence and the freedom to share your creativity and your knowledge, without anyone else stopping you. Because that is what we stand for, ever since 1994, when we produced the first live broadcast on the web. In 1994 the obstacle was broadcasting licences: without a licence, you could not broadcast. Today it is censoring platforms and foreign governments that can lock down your platform. You can host your videos on our infrastructure, and you can also run the StreamZilla software on your own platform.
So compliance means digital sovereignty. Europe has drawn up a document for this, the Sovereignty Framework. It has eight categories, each scored from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 4, and a score of 3 is the threshold for being sovereign in a category. We reach the top score of 4 in seven of the eight categories, and score 3 in the remaining one, which we are working on. That is our commitment to compliance in digital sovereignty.
Privacy
But there is more. Closely related to this is privacy legislation: the GDPR, known in the Netherlands as the AVG. With StreamZilla, not a single bit or byte of viewer statistics travels across the internet, and none of it goes to third parties. It all stays within our secure environment. We do not share data. In fact, the viewing data becomes the property of our customer, and it contains no personal data of the viewers.
And of course you decide for yourself which videos are public, which are restricted and which are protected with a password. This makes us fully compliant with privacy legislation.
Accessibility
Another important part of the legislation is what we call accessibility. The EAA, the European Accessibility Act, comes with a standard known as WCAG, which requires everything a government publishes to be accessible to people with disabilities. If you have a motor impairment, for example, we make sure you can operate the video player with your keyboard.
Play, stop, mute, turn the volume up and down, fast forward, rewind, choose other subtitle tracks, switch subtitles on and off, increase contrast, enlarge subtitles and view a transcript.
These are all features that matter for accessibility. They mean that people with impaired vision can clearly hear what is happening, and people who are hard of hearing can easily read what is being said.
Green
Finally, StreamZilla lives up to a green promise. StreamZilla is hosted on certified green energy and uses highly efficient hardware and software to keep your footprint as small as possible.
Your videos
And of course it is all about your videos: 4K streaming, subtitles, translations, transcripts and handy publishing features, hosted in Europe, for an audience of millions, worldwide.
Private beta
StreamZilla is currently in private beta and is being tested with a select group of customers. In the coming period StreamZilla will be scaled up and opened to all professionals and professional organisations in Europe. From €19 per month.
